Why do tungsten rings vary in price? What difference does it make if I buy a $350 tungsten ring versus a $30 one? Why are tungsten rings so cheap? People often confused with there questions.

Today, we will answer all these questions in detail with pictures.

Why do tungsten rings vary in price?

When you are shopping online, you will absolutely find that tungsten rings vary in price. From $15to $600.

Let’s take this ring for example:

Price for this ring on https://www.bluenile.com is: $345

But the same ring on Amazon is very low. Check the Curry price here for the same ring. You will find the price is very affordable.

You will also find that most tungsten rings on eBay or Wish are about $20-$50

Let’s keep to the point.

There are many reasons that tungsten rings vary greatly in price.

Reason 1: Tungsten Ring Made with Cobalt or With Nickel.

If your Tungsten rings made with Cobalt( very bad)- Do not buy

If your Tungsten rings made with Nickel( Great)- You can buy

Note: nickel might irritate your skin, but the amount of nickel in tungsten alloy is less than 1%. This means that unless you have a severe allergy to it, you wouldn’t even know that it was in there.

Why?

Cobalt is a cheaper filler some ring manufacturers use that make tungsten rings. Therefore, the price is cheaper.  Cobalt is a kind of material that looks the Tungsten, if you want to know more, you can read this post.

Let me tell you a true story. A friend of mine bought a tungsten ring at a very low price. This is what happened.

Originally looked like the one on the left. He asked me: Do all tungsten rings wear like this or is this just because I got a cheap one?

Yes, the ring he bought contains cobalt, which is an industrial-grade, not jewelry grade.

Once the rings tarnished, there is no going back to the original color. My suggestion is for your guys, spend extra money to make sure this won’t happen again. If you buy online, read the description carefully or send an email to ask if it is nickel or cobalt in the alloy.  If they have no idea, quit buying.

Pro tips: The cobalt is the only aspect that makes it tarnish. You need something that is jewelry grade, not industrial grade. Jewelry grade tungsten will NEVER tarnish or haze. Tungsten HAS to be an alloy, as it is far too brittle by itself. Find one with no cobalt, and you should enjoy the piece forever.

Reason 2: The Cost of Selling Tungsten Rings

Some companies or some stores would charge you more than $350 for a ring that is the exact same ring that you can find on Amazon for $30.

You will find there is no difference at all. They sell for a higher price due to the cost, such a store location, advertising cost and other costs.

Reason 3: Lifetime warranty VS 30 days Warranty

As you know, if you buy a tungsten ring at Amazon or eBay. You only need to pay $20 or $30. But you only get 30 days warranty.

If you buy a tungsten ring on a website or company, you may pay $5o, you may get 90 days warranty.

But, if you pay more than $200 for one tungsten ring, most of the time the seller will provide a lifetime warranty. You can replace a new tungsten ring for free if you break it( it could happen, but the chance is slim) or your fingers grows big or any other quality problems.

My suggestion is: if you buy a tungsten ring for daily outfit, you can buy an affordable tungsten ring like this one. Awesome quality, Fair price.

If you want to buy a ring as a gift, I suggest you pay more for a better one. Such as this one on Amazon, they provide Lifetime Warranty.
