Tiffany and Co. pride itself in the high quality it delivers to its clients with each piece produced by them. But like any other high-end jewelry, even their pieces need repair and cleaning after some time, especially since the majority of their pieces use silver which tends to tarnish despite the quality. It’s also possible, although rare, for there to be an issue with a Tiffany piece you order.
So, what happens when you find you need to return, exchange or fix Tiffany jewelry? What is Tiffany’s policy in such events?
Not to worry, in this post, we are going to cover all you need to know about Tiffany and Co.’s policies when it comes to returns, refunds, and replacements, as well as, their warranty.
Do Tiffany And Co Have Lifetime Warranty?
Given that it’s a prestigious brand and as proof of its quality, Tiffany and Co. do have a Lifetime Warranty, for all their diamond pieces. Each diamond piece they sell comes with a certificate stating the characteristics of the diamond and what to expect for the price.
The lifetime warranty covers the lack of conformity of the Diamond to the description in the certificate at the time of sale. It lasts for your entire lifetime as long as you still one the Tiffany jewelry.
If you do claim the warranty, Tiffany and Co. will need to examine the original copy of the Diamond certificate. They would also require the jewelry piece in question to have an independent gemological lab examine the diamond. You should receive a response from Tiffany and Co. no later than 45 days after submitting your claim to their store.
If your claim holds, you have the option of receiving a full refund of the price you bought the jewelry at. You can also have the diamond in question replaced with one that meets or exceeds the description of the certificate. You must, however, keep in mind that Tiffany’s warranty does not cover any damage that occurs after the sale of the jewelry piece.
Does Tiffany Replace Lost Jewelry?
Imagine a scenario where you bought a beautiful set from Tiffany’s. It could be a pair of earrings, or a bracelet or necklace, or a set of all three.
Losing one piece could be disheartening, especially considering how much you had to pay for it, to begin with. It, therefore, begs the question which most people ask. That is, would Tiffany and Co. be willing to replace lost jewelry?
In hindsight, it is bad business if Tiffany offered to replace every lost item bought from them. Most customers would take advantage of that to get pieces at a discounted price. While Tiffany and Co. don’t have a replacement policy for lost items, it does help replace missing items in sets. That, however, depends on the type of set.
For example, they can help you replace a half pair of earrings or cufflinks, by selling to you one earring or cufflink at a discounted price. If the missing earring or cufflink is no longer being produced, they can offer other alternatives like converting the remaining earring into a pendant. It is, however, less likely for Tiffany and Co. to replace a lost necklace or bracelet.
Does Tiffany Replace Broken Chains or Offer Free Repair?
Although Tiffany and Co. try to ensure the highest standards when it comes to their craftmanship, pieces from them might likely break.
There is nothing in their policy that states that they can replace a broken chain piece but they do offer repair services for any broken Tiffany and Co. items at a particular fee.
This is however dependent on certain conditions. One condition is the material used to make the piece.
Some of their pieces, like the Tiffany Mesh bracelets, are made of delicate material that makes them hard to repair without compromising their shape. The time and place your piece was purchased is also a factor. If the broken item was purchased a long time ago or from a secondary retailer, they may charge you extra for the service.
In the case you do want to repair your Tiffany chain or other jewelry, you can either take it to their store or mail it to them.
In case you want to mail the broken piece, you would have to download, print, and fill their repair form. You can then mail the form and the piece to be repaired to their address.
Once they have assessed the damage, they will send you a free estimate of how much it would cost to repair the piece.
Will Tiffany Buy Back Their Jewelry?
While there are stores that offer to buy back the jewelry they sell to you, Tiffany and Co. are not among them.
The only time they can buy back a piece they’ve sold to you is if it has been less than 30days after the sale. They do not buy back old Tiffany jewelry pieces.
They do, however, have an upgrade program for their rings. The program involves store credit equal to the original purchase price of your ring.
You can use this credit to buy a new Tiffany ring. Although they do not have a buy-back program, Tiffany pieces are highly valuable and can be resold to other jewelry stores for the best price.
That is thanks to the brand’s good reputation and use of high-quality and durable materials.
Conclusion:
While Tiffany and Co. don’t offer a handbook of guidelines on how to wear and maintain their jewelry, they are helpful with any problems you may have.
Whether it’s a mistake with the order, or a broken or missing piece, or the need for a refund, all you have to do is contact the store. They are always ready to assist.
