There are no real rules in fashion, and if anything, these rules are meant to be broken, which is why we believe that no woman should ever have to stop wearing a certain outfit just because of their age.
You will also agree that as long as you are comfortable wearing an outfit and feel happy and gorgeous in it, you have no reason to stop wearing such outfits. And jeans are at the top of that list; we don’t think that there is no age at which a woman should stop wearing jeans, as long they fit them well, feel comfortable, stylish, and trendy.
So, in the next sections of this article, we’ll discuss everything else jeans and women. Perhaps there is some hidden knowledge we are not aware of regarding women’s age limit to wearing jeans.
At what age should a woman stop wearing jeans?
According to an article published on RD, which is based on data collected from years of research, their researchers now recommend that women ditch denim at the age of 53 or by the time they reach this age.
And according to their research and the data collected, this doesn’t have to do with denim being a faux pas, but because it gets harder to pick denim at that time.
While we can feel all of you people reading this judge us, while you roll your eyes, it might be safe for us to mention that if you are interested in wearing jeans past the 53 year age ‘supposed’ limit, then you can still wear your jeans.
At the end of the day, if the jeans you find at the store are in your size – although this can be a challenge in some cases; as it has been and remains to be for women across all age groups, then you have no reason to not look great in jeans.
Think of 68-year-old Oprah Winfrey, 55-year-old Salma Hayek, 53-year olds’ like Naomi Watts, Jennifer Aniston, Mariah Carey, Kylie Minogue, Halle Berry, Elle MacPherson, Lucy Liu, and Sandra Bullock, among others.
All these women are older than 53 years. Though their having stylists might be a reason for them pulling off jeans so effortlessly, we’d like to believe (and have seen) that many other women in our ordinary lives over 53 years still wear jeans and look stunning in them.
So, we are saying that we don’t agree with RD’s sentiments about women stopping to wear jeans or denim at the age of 53. We want to believe that women get to wear jeans of all ages, whether they are 12 or 130 years old. As mentioned above, as long as a woman is comfortable in jeans, and many women do, there is no age limit to wearing jeans.
Why?
So, as per RD’s research, the main reason why women aged 53 or older should not wear jeans is that, at this age, it becomes a lot more difficult for women to find the right fitting jeans. While there is some truth about that, this is a challenge every woman faces, regardless of their age, but it has never been a reason to stop a woman from wearing jeans forever.
With specialty jeans stores that offer the most comprehensive array of jeans for women of all ages, this cannot be that much of a challenge for so much longer.
The only time a woman stops wearing jeans is when she is uncomfortable in them.
At what age should a woman stop wearing skinny jeans?
Some people think that 47 is the age limit for wearing skinny jeans. But again, we’ll reiterate that there is no age limit for wearing jeans. Wearing skinny jeans is not about age but the fit of the pants, which translates to the comfort levels of the pants.
Essentially, any woman who loves jeans can choose the style that fits their body. This often means adjusting the jeans they wear to their changing body shapes. And so, for the right fit, the jeans should fit well at the waist rise, lower leg, upper legs, etc., whether wearing skinny jeans or mommy jeans.
So, even if you are over 60, you can still rock leggings, skinny crop pants, skinny jeans, jumpsuits, and even cold-shoulder tops!
At what age should you stop wearing ripped jeans?
You can wear ripped jeans at any age that you still feel comfortable wearing. The type of jeans you wear, ripped or not, is not tied to your age, and when it comes to style, age doesn’t matter. Style is a state of mind. So, you can wear ripped jeans at 40, 50, 70, or even 80.
Conclusion
There are no age limitations or restrictions when it comes to fashion. The only thing that matters when it comes to what you wear is the ease, confidence, and comfort you get from wearing your clothes.
So, as long as you are comfortable in ripped jeans or skinny jeans, then you can rock your favorite jeans at any age.
